Sweaty eyeballs: sweaty everything
Sweaty Eyeballs: Sweaty Everything is a group exhibition at Area 405 that treats animation as a way of seeing rather than only a medium. The exhibition considers how people instinctively imagine life, movement, interaction, and narrative in the world around them, connecting animation to sequence, storytelling, embodiment, and everyday human behavior. Its starting point reaches back to prehistoric cave imagery, where depictions of moving animals, people, and gestures may have functioned as an early form of cinema.
Presented by Area 405 and the Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival, the exhibition features animators, experimental filmmakers, quilters, performers, mask-makers, and sculptors. The artists explore motion through both playback-based animation and static or sculptural forms, inviting visitors to think about the body, the frame, empathy, and the stories people use to understand their experiences.
