What is Opera? A Team!
Opera Baltimore’s interactive educational performance, *What is Opera? A Team!*, introduces audiences to the many people who work together to create an opera. A professional opera singer explains the roles of singers, musicians, set and costume designers, lighting artists, technicians, and other members of a production team, while demonstrating how the different voice types and creative departments fit together.
The program also highlights Baltimore soprano Anne Wiggins Brown, whose stand for what was right changed operatic history. Her signature song is performed live. Audience members are invited onstage to help sing, transforming the room into the cast. The event welcomes first-time attendees, families, longtime opera fans, and curious newcomers; no prior knowledge or special attire is required.
