Walt Weiskopf Quartet
The Department of Music presents the Walt Weiskopf Quartet in an afternoon jazz performance at Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall. The program combines music by Cole Porter and Wells & Segal with original compositions by saxophonist Walt Weiskopf.
Weiskopf began his professional career with the Buddy Rich Big Band in 1981 and has since worked as a bandleader, sideman, composer, and author. His collaborations include Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, and Michael McDonald. He has also written seven books on jazz improvisation and released acclaimed recordings, including *Simplicity*, *Song for My Mother*, *Open Road*, and *Fountain of Youth*. His work is noted for combining technical sophistication with accessibility, and critics have praised his distinctive voice as a tenor saxophonist, arranger, and composer.
