Ben Gucciardi with Edgar Kunz & Samuel Cheney: Arguments: Poems

Mon, Nov 2, 2026at 6:00 PM
11 East 33rd Street, Baltimore
Price not available
Featuring: Ben Gucciardi, Edgar Kunz, Samuel Cheney

Ben Gucciardi celebrates the release of *Arguments*, a poetry collection about the contradictions involved in forming a self, a family, and an ethical life within exploitative systems that demand complicity. Inspired in part by W. B. Yeats’s distinction between quarrels with others and the inward quarrel that becomes poetry, the event features readings by Gucciardi, Edgar Kunz, and Samuel Cheney, followed by a conversation shaped by the connections between their work.

Gucciardi is the author of *Arguments*, winner of the Lexi Rudnitsky Editor’s Choice Award, as well as *West Portal* and two chapbooks. Originally from San Francisco, he also founded Soccer Without Borders, a Baltimore-based nonprofit serving immigrant youth. Kunz is the author of *Fixer* and *Tap Out*, a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow, and a recipient of awards and fellowships from organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts and MacDowell. Cheney’s work has appeared in numerous literary magazines, and he has received a Pushcart Prize and other fellowships; his debut manuscript, *BELIEVERS*, was a finalist for the 2024 National Poetry Series.
