Sweaty Everything is an exhibition presented by Area 405 and the Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival, curated by the Baltimore-based collective Animation Love Affair. Running alongside Sweaty Eyeballs’ 14th festival year, the show treats animation as a way of seeing rather than only a medium or playback technique. It explores movement, sequence, storytelling, embodiment, and the ways artists can push beyond animation’s conventional boundaries.

The exhibition draws connections between contemporary animation and prehistoric images of bodies in motion, suggesting that early cave paintings may have functioned as a form of proto-cinema. Participating artists include animators, experimental filmmakers, quilters, performers, mask-makers, and sculptors. Their work considers how motion can be captured in still forms, how stories can preserve lived experience, and how attention to the body can deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world.
