August Wilson’s *Two Trains Running* comes to Morgan State University’s Murphy Fine Arts Center in a Theatre Morgan production directed by CJay Philip. Set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 1969, the play centers on Memphis Lee’s diner and its regular patrons as they confront racial injustice, poverty, the rise of the Black Power movement, and the threat of urban renewal. Memphis is fighting to receive a fair price for his restaurant, which is slated for demolition.

The play premiered on Broadway in 1992, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and is part of Wilson’s American Century Cycle. This production is part of the Baltimore August Wilson Celebration, a three-year initiative bringing multiple August Wilson productions to Baltimore through different theater companies.
