Gallery Reception for Sewing is Revolutionary, Sewing is Community: Collaboration with Bmore Fabric Swap Group Exhibition
The Gallery Reception celebrates *Sewing is Revolutionary, Sewing is Community*, a group exhibition presented with Bmore Fabric Swap. The exhibition highlights garments, wearable pieces, and sculptural or traditional artworks made with repurposed textiles and hand- or machine-sewn elements. Together, the works explore sustainability, resourcefulness, craftsmanship, and the shared tradition of creating useful and decorative objects by hand.
Bmore Fabric Swap was founded in 2023 by Baltimore artists Charlotte Hager, Loralee Tyson, and Laura Flamm. Through semiannual material and resource swaps, the organization connects local sewists and crafters while encouraging people to reuse fabric and supplies. Since its launch, it has held six free community events serving approximately 600 people from 66 ZIP codes and has helped keep more than 6,000 pounds of reusable materials out of landfills since 2024.
