4200 Saint Paul Street, Baltimore, MD
Free
Featuring: Marina Piccinini, Justin Taylor

Marina Piccinini returns to Community Concerts at Second with Franco-American harpsichordist Justin Taylor for an intimate Bach program. Piccinini, celebrated by *Gramophone* as “the Heifetz of the flute,” is joined by Taylor in his Community Concerts at Second debut. The performance explores the harpsichord as more than an accompanying bass instrument, presenting it as an equally important and virtuosic musical partner.

The program focuses on J.S. Bach’s flute sonatas, including four sonatas listed on the published program: the E major, B minor, A major, and E minor sonatas. Piccinini is an internationally recognized soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and advocate for both traditional and contemporary music. She has premiered more than 40 works, performed with major orchestras and ensembles around the world, teaches at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, and co-founded the Zauberklang Festival in Switzerland. Taylor, who plays both harpsichord and fortepiano, won first prize at the 2015 International Musica Antiqua Competition in Bruges and is a founding member of the ensemble Le Consort. He has appeared at leading venues and festivals internationally and records exclusively for ALPHA Classics.
