Eric Johanson (Matinee)

Eric Johanson brings a guitar-forward blend of rock, roots, blues, and contemporary influences to Rams Head On Stage. His sound ranges from New Orleans swamp grooves to heavy, fuzzed-out textures, pairing forceful guitar playing with carefully crafted melodies and lyrics. His live performances are known for their intensity, spontaneity, and strong connection with the audience.

Johanson’s 2023 album *The Deep and the Dirty* reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, followed by the 2025 Top 10 release *Live In Mississippi*. A Louisiana native who has spent most of his life in New Orleans, he first gained wider attention after Tab Benoit signed him to Whiskey Bayou Records and produced his 2017 debut, *Burn It Down*. Johanson later released *Below Sea Level* in 2020, supported artists including Samantha Fish, Anders Osborne, The Record Company, Tab Benoit, and North Mississippi Allstars, and contributed to a Grammy-nominated collaboration with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. His next studio album is planned for 2026.
