Xavier Walker: Black Frequency Sound Library
Xavier “Seven” Walker’s *Black Frequency Sound Library* is an immersive listening room and community studio focused on Baltimore’s sounds, songs, and sonic history. Visitors can explore listening stations, archival materials, and music-making activities while considering how sound communicates place, shapes culture, and connects to public space.
The installation offers opportunities for archival research, DJ and production practice, mixtape-making, and collaborative work toward a soundscape of Baltimore. Walker is a multimedia DJ, archivist, and cultural organizer whose work explores Black diasporic traditions, movement, intimacy, placemaking, and overlooked histories. He created [THE FUNCTION] and Black Frequency Archive, collaborates with Perfect Memory Radio, served as a 2025 Emerging Artist Fellow with the Black Arts District, and was named *Baltimore Beat*’s Favorite Up-and-Coming DJ of 2025.
