Paris Marx presents "Hyperscale: The Ambition and Excess of Big Tech's Data Empires"

Paris Marx presents *Hyperscale: The Ambition and Excess of Big Tech’s Data Empires*, an examination of the physical infrastructure behind AI, cryptocurrency, cloud storage, and other online services. Marx explores how massive, energy-intensive data centers are consuming power and water, exploiting vulnerable communities, and accelerating environmental crises as technology companies pursue growth and market dominance.

Drawing on investigative reporting and analysis, the program argues for technology oriented toward social good rather than the profits of Big Tech billionaires. Marx is the host of the podcast *Tech Won’t Save Us* and the author of *Road to Nowhere: What Silicon Valley Gets Wrong about the Future of Transportation*. The event is co-sponsored by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, which is also co-hosting the *People over Data Centers* Maryland Action Summit on November 17.
