Public Conversations | Liberated Mind: A Guide to Black Clarity with Dr. Timothy D. Goler
Public Conversations presents Dr. Timothy D. Goler discussing his book, *Liberated Mind: A Guide to Black Clarity*. The conversation examines liberation beyond physical freedom and considers how Black people have been taught to cope, adapt, survive, and silence themselves. Dr. Goler will explore how social systems influence Black consciousness through thoughts, identities, relationships, and choices, and how individuals and communities can reclaim agency within those systems.
A moderated discussion with Robert T. Parker, the Lewis Museum’s Chief Curator and Director of Interpretation, Visitor Experiences and Education, will examine how Black history, culture, and art can support mental liberation and collective empowerment. The program concludes with a question-and-answer session and book signing. Dr. Goler is a sociologist and author whose work focuses on clarity, identity, culture, and the disciplined unlearning involved in reclaiming mental authority and building self-directed lives.
