Mike Fabricant presents "The Struggle for Public Goods in the Shadow of Fascism: Hope at Dusk"
Mike Fabricant presents *The Struggle for Public Goods in the Shadow of Fascism: Hope at Dusk*, an examination of democracy’s weakening amid growing tensions between market freedom and citizens’ rights. The discussion explores the decline of the welfare state, the expansion of radical-right politics, and the political and economic forces driving efforts to dismantle public supports.
Fabricant also considers sources of hope found in the work of artists and organizers. The event places current conflicts over service benefits, anti-discrimination protections, and market regulation in the broader history of American social welfare, with particular attention to the effects of far-right politics on public policy and political discourse. His book is intended as a resource for researchers, instructors, and students in sociology, social theory, social policy, human services, public administration, and American and political studies.
