Collegiate World Premiere of The Musical, "Kenya's Soul"
The Morgan State University Musical Theatre presents the collegiate world premiere of *Kenya’s Soul*, a compelling musical written and directed by Dr. Tyrone Stanley. The story follows Kenya Mugabo, a privileged young woman whose life is destabilized when secrets about her birth mother come to light. Her search for the truth takes her from Manhattan’s high society to Africa, where she confronts betrayal, inherited trauma, family legacy, and a truth of her own that could destroy her family’s real estate empire. Kenya must decide whether preserving that empire is worth suppressing her identity, ultimately discovering that true royalty is awakened rather than inherited.
The production features romantic melodies, gritty urban rhythms, and World Music showstoppers. It comes from the Morgan State Musical Theatre group behind productions including *Aida*, *The Color Purple*, *Dreamgirls*, *Once on This Island*, and *Echoes of Motown*.
