Full Moon Tour

Full Moon Tour is a one-hour historic walking tour exploring how early American families responded to the dangers and anxieties of nighttime. Under the light of the full moon, visitors will learn about the Loockerman family’s early-19th-century practices for securing their household during periods of limited lighting and heightened fears of crime, theft, wandering travelers, superstition, and unruly behavior.

The tour places domestic life in the context of a nighttime world in which families barred their doors and stayed inside while taverns, streets, and other public spaces remained active after dark.
