The M.A.K.A.Do: Make America Kingly Again!
The M.A.K.A.Do: Make America Kingly Again! is an operatic political satire based on Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, with new English texts by Bari Biern. Set in a lavishly gilded Oval Office, this comic reimagining takes aim at tyranny, would-be kings, cancel culture, and political absurdity from all sides. The production combines music, comedy, elaborate costumes and scenery, and physical theatricality, with added musical strains of John Philip Sousa. Its creators use laughter and music to satirize the things audiences may be thinking but rarely hear expressed.
