Launch Pad: Scenes from New Plays is the Baltimore Playwrights Festival’s Fall 2026 sampler, featuring staged readings of entertaining scenes from eight new plays by area playwrights. Local directors and performers bring the selections to life with movement, props, comedy, drama, and stories about lives changing in unexpected ways.

The program includes works such as *BCC: Goldfish*, *Thomas Kyd’s The Scottish Lady*, *Fortress*, and *The Persistence of Vision*. Among the characters and situations featured are an entertainment mogul struggling to maintain control of a company, a young couple whose new home is haunted by the poltergeist of a dead poet, enslaved refugees seeking entry to Fort Monroe in pursuit of freedom, and airport passengers confronted by a scanner that reveals more than it should.
