November Mystery Trans Movie Night (presented by TRAC)
TRAC’s November Mystery Trans Movie Night is a recurring community screening built around a surprise film featuring trans characters, trans filmmakers, and/or trans stories. The evening offers a chance to gather with the community, discover the film at the screening, and learn about upcoming trans-led events and ways to get involved.
The event is presented by the entirely trans-led Trans Rights Advocacy Coalition (TRAC), a network of more than 100 members and organizations working to advance the rights and well-being of trans Marylanders. TRAC’s work includes advocacy for gender-affirming healthcare access, legal protections for patients and providers, and improved treatment and dignity for incarcerated transgender and gender-expansive people. Its organizing emphasizes racial justice, queer liberation, consensus-building, community care, and making room for joy and rest.

Presented by: Trans Rights Advocacy Coalition (TRAC).
TRAC’s work: TRAC helped secure Maryland’s Trans Health Equity Act in 2023, extending Medicaid access to gender-affirming care on the same basis as other insurance coverage. The organization also advocated for Executive Order 01.01.2023.08, signed on June 6, 2023, which affirmed Maryland as a safe and welcoming place for trans people seeking care. During the 2024 legislative session, TRAC led advocacy for SB119, a law protecting gender-affirming-care patients, providers, and support networks from out-of-state harassment and litigation. The law made Maryland the 12th state with a shielding law that includes gender-affirming care.
Community focus: TRAC is also working to improve conditions for incarcerated transgender and gender-expansive people in Maryland. Its advocacy has helped establish budget language requiring the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to produce an annual report on the treatment of incarcerated trans people, while the organization continues collecting stories and input from that community.
