Exhibition Preview Day: Luxury & Loss invites Walters Art Museum partners to preview the fall exhibition before it opens to the public. The exhibition explores luxurious objects made from rare animal materials such as feathers, shells, tusks, and horns. These materials were valued for their beauty and scarcity for centuries, but growing awareness of harm to wildlife led to their prohibition in the 20th century. Today, the objects encourage reflection on conservation and humanity’s responsibility toward the natural world.
