SML

SML is a Los Angeles-based quintet drawing from jazz, improvisation, and indie music. The group features bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, percussionist Booker Stardrum, and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann. Their music combines rhythm-centered improvisation with layered post-production and an exploratory, trance-like sound.

The band’s debut album, *Small Medium Large*, was recorded during its first performances at Highland Park’s ETA in late 2022 and early 2023, then released in summer 2024 to widespread critical praise. It appeared on year-end lists from Tone Glow, Passion of the Weiss, Bandcamp Daily, Hearing Things, and others. After touring festivals and venues beyond Los Angeles, SML used recordings from those performances to develop its second album, *HOW YOU BEEN*, which reflects the group’s increased confidence on the road while expanding its approach to improvisation and studio production. The Baltimore performance is presented by Rising Sun Presents.

Showtimes: Doors open at 6:00 PM; the show begins at 7:00 PM.

Tickets: General Admission advance tickets are $34.67, including a $25 ticket price and $9.67 in fees and taxes. Seated balcony tickets are $64.17, including a $50 ticket price and $14.17 in fees and taxes.

Ages: The event is restricted to patrons age 18 and over. A valid photo ID is required for entry.
