NCEED School of Thought Scholar Series
NCEED School of Thought Scholar Series presents a screening of *Stolen School*, a documentary about the 1967 closure of Foster School, an all-Black neighborhood school in Evanston, Illinois’s historically Black Fifth Ward. The film examines what the community lost through desegregation and follows former students, educators, residents, and community leaders as they work to reclaim the school’s history and legacy.
After the screening, Dr. Shannon Paige Clark, an assistant professor of organizational leadership at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and an executive producer of the documentary, will participate in a panel with Baltimore community thought leaders. The discussion will consider the intended and unintended effects of school desegregation, continuing efforts toward educational equity, and the Civil Rights Movement’s influence on American education.
