Exhibition Opening Reception—Celebrating Maryland’s Folk Art & Craft
The Maryland Center for History and Culture hosts an opening reception for two exhibitions highlighting Maryland’s folk art, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions. Guests can be among the first to explore the galleries, enjoy light refreshments, and hear remarks from curators and special guests.
The exhibitions include *Glazed & Flowered: Stoneware Potters of Early Baltimore*, guest curated by Luke Zipp, which presents approximately 50 examples of early Baltimore stoneware from museum and private collections. Jars, crocks, and other functional pieces showcase the distinctive style developed by Baltimore’s leading nineteenth-century potters. *Decoys of the Chesapeake*, guest curated by Henry Stansbury and C. John Sullivan, features more than 175 works from their collections, including historic decoys, paintings, and sporting artifacts created by master carvers, painters, and Chesapeake watermen.
