GALLIMAUFRY: OMFUG in Baltimore
GALLIMAUFRY: OMFUG in Baltimore is an unconventional afternoon concert bringing seven accomplished musicians into An die Musik Live’s intimate listening-room setting. Rather than adhering to a single genre, the program blends concert music, experimental sounds, jazz, funk, theatrical elements, and other deliberately hard-to-classify styles.
The musicians perform works ranging from Afarin Mansouri’s unsettling solo-horn piece *Bewildered* to JacobTV’s amplified saxophone work *Billie* and Hilary Tann’s atmospheric *Like Lightnings*. The program also features individual spotlights before the ensemble comes together in funk- and jazz-influenced arrangements by Cam Millar. The title “OMFUG,” associated with the phrase “Other Music for Uplifting Gourmandizers,” reflects the concert’s adventurous, boundary-free spirit.
