Mozart Meets Latin Masters
Mozart Meets Latin Masters brings the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra together with conductor Giancarlo Guerrero and violinist Jonathan Carney for a program shaped by dance rhythms, folk traditions, tango, jazz, and expressive symphonic writing. The concert moves from Alberto Ginastera’s Argentine-inspired dances and Astor Piazzolla’s urban Buenos Aires sound world to Max Bruch’s lyrical Scottish Fantasy and Mozart’s expansive “Paris” Symphony.
Guerrero, a six-time GRAMMY® Award winner, leads the program. Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy features Jonathan Carney in one of his final solo appearances as BSO concertmaster. Mozart’s Symphony No. 31 is notable for expanding the orchestra with clarinets, reflecting contemporary French musical tastes.
