The Stars

The Stars is an immersive light-and-sound installation by Andrew Schneider that invites visitors into a contemplative journey through memory, grief, community, and the irreversible passage of time. Part meditation and part exploration, the experience surrounds visitors with a walk-through matrix of more than 5,000 individual LEDs, creating a planetarium-like environment in which the stars evoke the memories of elders and others who are no longer with us.

Visitors can explore the installation or sit on the floor within it. The work was developed specifically for The Voxel, which first helped workshop it in 2022, and has since toured to New York, London, Wales, Minneapolis, Williamstown, Seattle, Austin, and other locations.

Showtimes: Tickets are organized by arrival windows. Visitors may arrive at any time during their selected window.

Run time: The gallery experience operates on a 30-minute loop, and visitors may remain in the installation as long as they wish.

Experience: General admission allows visitors either to walk through and explore the room or sit on the floor within the installation.
