Meg Berkobien and María Cristina Hall present "Goodbye, Ramona"
Meg Berkobien and María Cristina Hall present *Goodbye, Ramona*, Montserrat Roig’s sweeping novel about three generations of women in one family across more than sixty years of twentieth-century Barcelona. The event explores the lives of three women named Ramona: a grandmother yearning for romance beyond her quiet marriage, a daughter enduring her husband’s volatility, and a granddaughter coming of age amid the social changes and revolutionary possibilities of 1960s Barcelona.
The novel examines family inheritance, love, power, silence, gendered violence, the impact of Franco’s dictatorship, and the struggle to claim an independent life. Berkobien and Hall, who co-translated the book, bring literary, translation, organizing, poetry, and migration-research backgrounds to the presentation.
